WHAT ARE ORIENTEERING & OAA DAYS?

ORIENTEERING DAY

Theses are fun, practical activities where young people from Year 1 - 6 have the opportunity to learn and develop orienteering and map skills using the outdoor spaces on their school site.  Using adapted maps, legends and terminology, young people will navigate in sequence to complete a variety of courses. All resources are bespoke to the school, and equipment will be provided for use on the day, including control stations and SI-cards (dibbers).

WHAT WILL THE OUTCOMES BE?

There are many cross curricular links with PE, geography and maths. Young people will develop their confidence, understanding and knowledge of this enjoyable and engaging physical activity, with many pathways for older students into school games events and local community provision.
