Sports Force & Active Lunchtimes

WHAT IS SPORTS FORCE AND ACTIVE LUNCHTIMES TRAINING?

Sports Force is our leadership programme aimed to give young people the tools, knowledge and confidence to become excellent leaders and great role models within their own school. Sports Force is a full day programme and is also combined with a 2 hour Active Playtimes Training programme designed for all lunchtime and support staff.  Additionally there will be a further half day session to progress the children through the award levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold.

SPORTS FORCE TRAINING

This training is for up to 20 young people in your school, preferably from Year 5/6, but can be adapted for younger children in the school.

ACTIVE PLAYTIME TRAINING

This training is for any lunchtime supervisors or other support staff that assist in the lunchtime set up within you school.

WHAT WILL THE OUTCOMES BE?

Once the training has been completed, you will have a trained cohort of leaders with the resources and the knowledge to deliver clubs within school or in the playground to other children, with the overall outcome to increase general physical activity levels amongst more young people in your school.

Lunchtime and support staff will be trained to effectively utilise and support their Sports Force Leaders and implement strategies  towards making playtime's as active as possible.  This will result in an increase of overall wellbeing, help boost morale and also develop fundamental social, emotional and academic skills.

WHAT WILL THE SCHOOL NEED TO DO?

  • Schools will need to contact us to book a Sports Force/Active Playtimes day in their school.

  • Select 20 young people who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities for the Sports Force training.

  • The subject leader will need to organise the staff to attend an afternoon Active Playtime training.

  • Organise an indoor space and inform appropriate staff.

  • Following the training, staff can observe the leaders and sign off their cards.

  • Once the leaders have completed their bronze award, schools will need to book a second training day so the children can work towards their silver award.
