WHAT IS AN ATHLETE MENTOR?

Life for Steve Sampher, of The Light Dragoons, changed forever while on tour in Afghanistan in 2012. Steve’s tank was hit by an IED, and Steve was then shot in the head when the Taliban opened fire on his squadron. Steve’s helmet saved his life.

 

Physical Activity has played a key role in Steve's recovery, and he was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2023 Invictus Games in Dusseldorf.

 

In each school, he will deliver a full assembly and two sessions with groups of 15 children to work in detail on resilience and confidence.

WHO’S IT FOR?

Two targeted groups of 15 children are able to participate in this programme as well as a whole school assembly.

WHAT WILL THE OUTCOMES BE?

​

Steve will explore children’s coping skills, team work, building resilience to improve their quality of life and developing positive mindsets and confidence to achieve their potential.
