About the Event

This course will be run over two consecutive weeks in two hour sessions and delegates must attend both sessions:

Tuesday 9 May 2023 and Tuesday 16 May 2023.  

It is free to all essential and above member schools. For non-member schools there will be a cost of £60 per person.

This course has been designed to support school staff to re-examine perceptions of what it means to be autistic, challenging historical and stereotypical views of autism. 

Attendees will be guided in expanding their knowledge about what an autistic identity really is by learning about autism through the lens of neurodiversity; thinking about differing profiles, strengths and challenges. Through developing an increased awareness of an autistic identity, participants will then be supported to consider ways in which accommodations, adjustments and changes to practices in your school will help support autistic students thrive within PE and physical activity.

This course has been developed using resources created by autistic advocates, reflecting on real lived

experience, amplifying autistic perspectives. The course is suitable for anyone! This course is delivered in person meaning participants have the benefits of in session discussions pertinent to personal experiences and training needs. Clinicians will provide opportunities throughout for discussion and answering specific questions.

Course Components

❖ 2 x 2 hour sessions delivered by two members of the Everything Autism clinical team

❖ Provision of a handout for each participant

❖ Provision of certificate for each participant reflecting the course learning outcomes and training time credits

❖ Each school will receive a copy of the book - Lost at School by Dr Ross Greene

Course Provider - Everything Autism

Everything Autism is a neuro affirming specialist practice working with and supporting autistic individuals and their families. They are a multidisciplinary team who have significant expertise and knowledge in providing services relating to the formal identification of autism. They work with children, young people and adults; providing training to schools and workplaces to help them to make their environments accessible to all and help people thrive.
