Get Ahead Challenge: Be Your Best

What is Get Ahead Challenge?

Through this programme, pupils track and improve personal bests, contributing to class and school totals, with optional North Lincs league competition promoting teamwork, motivation and physical literacy.

Who is it for?

Both KS1 & KS2 classes are able to participate in this programme.

What will the outcomes be?

  • Improved physical fitness and physical literacy – Pupils regularly track personal bests, helping them understand movement, stamina, and technique while seeing clear progress over time.

  • Increased motivation and engagement – Focusing on personal improvement rather than direct comparison encourages all pupils to participate and feel successful.

  • Enhanced teamwork and collaboration – Contributing to class and school totals fosters a shared sense of responsibility and collective achievement.

  • Positive attitudes towards healthy lifestyles – Regular goal-setting and reflection help embed lifelong habits around physical activity.

  • Raised confidence and self-esteem – Achieving personal bests builds a sense of accomplishment, particularly for less confident or less active pupils.

  • Healthy competition opportunities – The optional North Lincs league provides a structured, motivating challenge while promoting sportsmanship and resilience.

  • Whole-school culture of activity – Shared targets and totals help create a visible, inclusive focus on physical activity across the school.

What will schools need to do?
